At R3 Stem Cell in Milan, Tennessee, we offer stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine for joint pain and limited mobility. Our procedures use mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from screened umbilical cord tissue, along with PRP injections. These minimally invasive options may support comfort and daily function. Individual results vary.
Your knee has been talking to you for two years. It talks loudest on the stairs, and again around four in the morning.
Maybe it started with a bad twist on the farm. Maybe it was twenty years of concrete floors and lifting. Either way, you already tried the ibuprofen. You already tried resting it. And the next thing anybody offered you was a surgery date.
There is a step in between those two things. That step is what we do.
R3 Stem Cell works with Milan patients who want to move better without heading straight to an operating room. Regenerative medicine is a rapidly growing field, and it has real options for worn joints, sore tendons, and backs that have carried too much for too long.

Regenerative medicine uses your body’s own repair signals, or screened donor cell products, to support healing in one specific spot.
Platelet Rich Plasma therapy is the most common one. We draw a small amount of your blood, spin it in a centrifuge, and separate out the platelets. Your whole blood carries somewhere between 150,000 and 400,000 platelets per microliter. A good PRP preparation concentrates that several times over. Platelets carry growth factors. We place them back into the joint or tendon that needs the help.
Other cellular therapies use mesenchymal stem cells from umbilical cord tissue and Wharton’s jelly. These come from screened tissue banks that follow cGMP processing standards and FDA-regulated tissue rules. Exosome therapy is a third option, and it works through cell signaling rather than the cells themselves.
Here is something you will not find on most stem cell websites.
The research is stronger for some uses than others. For tennis elbow and elbow tendonitis, PRP has held up reasonably well in published trials. For knee cartilage, the research findings are genuinely mixed. One large randomized trial found PRP performed no better than a placebo injection for knee symptoms at the one year mark. Other trials found meaningful improvement in pain and daily function.
Both of those results are real. We tell you about both.
A stem cell doctor who promises you a fix is selling something. We would rather have a slower conversation and a patient who trusts us.
You know the drive. Jackson if you are lucky. Memphis or Nashville if you are not. Half a day gone, gas money spent, and a fifteen minute appointment waiting at the end of it. Around here we just call it “the Memphis drive.”
This part of West Tennessee runs on physical work. Row crop farming. Shift work. The kind of jobs where your hips and shoulders keep score. Folks who show up for the Milan No-Till Field Day every summer are not looking for six weeks on the couch.
It also helps that the rules here got clearer. Tennessee’s stem cell therapy law, House Bill 2246, set statewide standards for how these treatments can be offered and where the cells have to come from. That is good news for patients who have spent years sorting through conflicting claims.
So our care is built for people with jobs, fields, and grandkids. Most procedures are minimally invasive and finish in a single visit. You walk in, you walk out, you drive yourself home.
You come in and we go through your imaging and your history first. Not a sales pitch. An actual look at what is happening in the joint.
If we are doing a PRP injection, the blood draw takes a few minutes and the spin takes about fifteen. We guide most injections with ultrasound so the material lands exactly where the wear is, instead of somewhere close by.
Most people get back to light activity inside a day or two. Soreness in the joint for the first week is normal and expected. Any real improvement builds gradually, and how long PRP takes to work is measured in weeks, not hours. Anyone telling you otherwise is not being straight with you.
If your main issue is pain and mobility in a specific joint or tendon, you are talking to the right people. If it is something outside that, we will say so plainly and point you toward someone better suited.
Procedures in this category generally run from about $3,500 to $15,000. The number depends on how many sites we treat and which materials we use. It also tracks fairly close to what patients pay for stem cell therapy in Nashville, so you are not paying extra for the privilege of staying home.
You get a written estimate before you agree to anything. Most insurance plans do not cover regenerative care, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If the price does not work for you right now, ask about payment and financing options, or simply tell us no. That is a completely acceptable answer.
Some people are better served by physical therapy first, or by a surgeon, or by weight management and a good strength program. Some joints are too far gone for this to help much, and imaging usually tells us that.
We will also walk you through the known side effects and risks before you decide anything, because a real conversation about downsides is part of the job.
We turn people away. NOT every week, but often enough that we want you to know it happens. A Milan stem cell treatment center that says yes to everybody is not evaluating anybody.
The quickest way to find out where you stand is a short phone call. No obligation and no deposit. We will ask about your imaging, your history, and what you are actually trying to get back to doing, whether that is a full day on the tractor or picking up a two year old without wincing.
Call +1 (844) GET-STEM to set up your consultation.
There is a reason we put so much weight on the consultation. If we do not think regenerative care fits your situation, you will hear that on the phone rather than after you have paid for a visit. That is not a clever tactic. It is just how we would want to be treated.
