Biography:

Brian David Baldinger, born January 7, 1959, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a former NFL offensive lineman turned television, radio, and podcast football analyst. He stood 6 feet 4 inches and weighed around 255 pounds during his playing days.

Playing Career
Baldinger played college football at Duke University, where as a sophomore he began as a backup tight end before being converted to offensive guard due to his blocking ability. He went undrafted in the 1982 NFL Draft but went on to a 13-season NFL career as an offensive lineman, playing for the Dallas Cowboys (1982–1987), the Indianapolis Colts (1988–1991), briefly with the Buffalo Bills in an offseason/practice-squad capacity in 1992, and the Philadelphia Eagles (1992–1993). Over his career, he appeared in 143 games, starting 47 of them, and recovered two fumbles.

Broadcasting and Podcast Career
After retiring as a player, Baldinger transitioned into football analysis, working with NFL Films before joining NFL Network, where he serves as an analyst on NFL Total Access. He also serves as lead analyst for Compass Media Networks. Known widely by fans as “Baldy,” he’s built a reputation as a frequent guest on sports radio shows nationwide, breaking down game film, the NFL Draft, and weekly matchups.

He’s especially well known for his “Baldy Breakdowns” — detailed all-22 film breakdown videos he posts on social media (particularly X/Twitter) dissecting individual plays, offensive and defensive line technique, and player performances, which have become a staple for hardcore football fans and analysts alike each week during the season. He has also appeared as a guest across numerous football podcasts and radio programs.

In more recent years, he’s made guest/cameo appearances on football-adjacent entertainment programming, including “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce” in 2025.
