How Stem Cells Work

Stem cells are a type of cell that is undifferentiated or hasn’t chosen a “job” in the body yet. Your body makes them at all stages of your life as a way to grow and repair damaged tissues. As you age, the number your body makes decreases naturally. Many of our procedures involve the injection of stem cells to help increase that number and expedite recovery. We typically use umbilical cord and amniotic stem cell therapy versus more invasive types of procedures.

Amniotic Tissues & Recovery

Amniotic fluid and tissues highly valuable tissues that are often discarded after a newborn comes into this world. R3 Stem Cell uses these tissues after they have been donated with consent by the parents of healthy babies. They are then processed and the proper components collected before being used in injections to make sure they are in an optimal state to be introduced into a patient’s body. Amniotic tissues and fluids have been shown to contain high levels of the stem cells that typically give rise to skin, hair, bone, and muscle tissues. This makes them excellent for orthopedic, cardiac, and joint issues. Contact us today to set up a free consultation with a provider near Knoxville, who can help you decide whether stem cell therapy is the right fit for you.

Other Forms Of Therapy From R3

In addition to amniotic and umbilical cord stem cells, our providers can provide you with other forms of therapy. These can be used along with stem cells or sometimes on their own. Most of our therapies come in the form of injections, which can be administered locally to the site of concern. This helps to target cells that need restoration. Our other procedures include:

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections
  • Exosome Therapy
  • Post-procedure recovery products

Recovering From Regenerative Therapy

Umbilical cord or amniotic stem cell therapy is minimally invasive, unlike other forms of treatment like surgery or prolonged courses of pharmaceutical drugs. Because of this, our centers are generally considered outpatient facilities meaning you are free to go home to begin the recovery process hours after an injection. This also means that recovery times are generally fast, although everyone’s body is different. We do recommend that you rest at home for a few days after the procedure and then begin to reintegrate normal activity into your life.

R3 Stem Cell providers across the country are involved in clinical trials at different times. We aim to add to the body of knowledge on stem cells and regenerative therapy. This also allows us to gain important knowledge so that we can train a new generation of health care professionals through seminars and webinars. When you visit us for a free consultation, make sure to ask if we are offering any clinical trials at that location and if you are eligible for them.

New Research Out Of Knoxville

Dr. Juan Luis Jurat-Fuentes, a researcher at the University of Texas, is working in partnership with the National Science Foundation to determine how stem cells can be used to help stop the spread of pathogens. Many parasites use the digestive tracts of insects to complete their life cycles or to infect future targets. This lab is researching how stem cells can help with gut tissue regeneration after an insect has been infected. The hope is that this research will lead to a better understanding of how we can heal human digestive tracts through the use of stem cell regulation in terms of proliferation and differentiation. Much of the research done on stem cells is in non-human animals, but the knowledge can be used in the future to further refine our techniques for human patients.

Knoxville’s Healthy Eateries

Knoxville is quickly becoming a cultural hub in Tennessee, and with that has come a whole slew of new restaurants. Not only are these restaurants bringing new cuisine to the area, but they are bringing a focus on health as well. Tennessee is close to tons of beautiful farmland, which means produce is fresh and readily available for a good portion of the year. A healthy diet is crucial for the recovery and maintenance of your physical wellness. People who eat out often because of a busy work schedule or even just because they enjoy it a lot are susceptible to falling into poor eating choices. Consider some of the following places on your next venture out on the town or for takeout:

  • Clean Eatz: This ready-to-go joint offers lots of premade meals that you can heat quickly on the go. They have options for many diets including gluten-free, dairy-free, and paleo
  • Java Juice Box: Enjoy a fresh smoothie, acai bowl and more for a casual breakfast or lunch
  • Earth Fare: This chain supermarket is a great place to stock your fridge and pantry with organic and natural products
  • Sanctuary Vegan Cafe: This cafe specializes in Southern comfort food done in the vegan style

Maintaining Your Fitness

If you deal with lethargy, mood swings, or inflexibility, you may want to take a look at your fitness regiment. Most people do not get the recommended level of exercise for their age because of busy schedules or a lack of motivation. Staying active can help promote your physical health, make you less susceptible to many diseases, and make you a happier person. Consider joining a gym or fitness studio if you haven’t already done so. If you are not sure where to begin, many businesses offer personal training and can help you formulate a plan. Remember, an active body is one that will reap the benefits of longevity. Some places to look at in Knoxville include:
