What Is R3 Stem Cell Turkey?

R3 Stem Cell Turkey is the Istanbul clinic of R3 Stem Cell International, a regenerative medicine network founded in the United States in 2014. We treat patients from Turkey, Europe and the Middle East.

We are not a walk-in medical tourism broker. R3 is one clinical network with one set of protocols, one set of biologic release criteria, and one clinical committee reviewing them, Istanbul included. Every protocol used here has been run at other R3 locations first, so you are not the first patient at a given dose or delivery route.

Who founded R3

R3 Stem Cell was founded by Dr. David Greene, MD, PhD, MBA, an orthopedic surgeon. He spent years treating orthopedic patients before concluding that surgery was being recommended in cases where regenerative injection carried a reasonable chance of helping first. That clinical background, not an investment thesis, is why R3 exists.

Where the cells come from, and who handles them

The biologics we use are mesenchymal stem cells and exosomes from donated umbilical cord tissue, specifically Wharton’s jelly. Never embryonic. Never fetal. Never from a birth altered or scheduled for the purpose of donation.

Here is the custody chain, in order.

Consenting donation: Tissue is donated by consenting mothers after scheduled, healthy full term C-section deliveries. No harm comes to mother or baby.
Donor and tissue screening: Our US laboratory medical director screens both the donor and the donated tissue for communicable disease before any tissue is accepted.
Cryogenic transport: Screened material travels on dry ice and is held in cryogenic storage until use.
Culture expansion under aseptic conditions: Cells are tested for mutation at division and screened for infectious disease before release.
Release testing:Every finished biologic is verified for live cell count and viability before it is used.

Our Laboratory Standards

By Choice, Not By Minimum Requirement

ISO-certified, cGMP-compliant laboratory: R3 built and operates its own lab rather than outsourcing to a third party, which keeps quality control inside the same organization treating you.
Testing that exceeds FDA minimums: Every batch is screened for a longer list of infectious diseases and genetic mutation markers than the US regulatory floor requires.
A perfect safety record to date: Zero significant adverse events reported across every R3 location since 2014.
One standard worldwide: The same biologic release criteria apply whether the treatment is administered in the US, Turkey, Mexico, or any other R3 location.

How we think about safety

Across more than 29,000 procedures since 2014, R3 has not recorded a significant adverse event. We report that as a track record rather than a promise. It is self reported, there is no independent registry in this field, and you should weigh it accordingly.

Any injection carries risk of infection, bleeding and short term reaction. Intrathecal delivery carries more than an IV does. Stem cell therapy is experimental for most of the conditions patients ask us about, it is not FDA approved for them, and we do not offer it as a cure.

We also turn patients away. Active cancer, current infection, pregnancy and certain blood and clotting conditions usually rule treatment out, and some medications change what is possible. The free consultation exists partly to say no. If we do not think you will benefit, we will tell you rather than book you.

Roughly half of our patients in Turkey are returning patients or arrived through a referral. We track it internally because it is the most honest satisfaction signal we have.
